What better way to nourish you inner spirit than to engage in an activity that while you are doing it you feel satisfied and fulfilled. There are lots of ways: dance, music and art are some of the ways to fill yourself up with healthy gifts. Look at some random photos I took in the last week or so. The adults & children below are totally engaged with whatever they were creating. Just this week I also heard, “coming to the studio and creating something from nothing makes me feel happy” and “doing art makes me forget all the stuff I have going on in my life” and “painting feels just wonderful to do. It is something I have always wanted to take the time for and now I am.”
Not everyone who comes to the studio allows themselves to enjoy the doing. Some don’t let themselves enjoy because they are concerned with making a mistake or the art not looking good.
The biggest trick to letting go is to not focus on the product. That’s harder for some adults and kids but with practice it starts to be more important than whatever comes out on the 50 cents worth of paper or $3 worth of canvas. Simply enjoy the doing. Be consciously aware of how it feels to make a line that comes totally from within or enjoy the fluidity of watercolor, or the sensuousness of acrylic or oil paint. Relax and enjoy!
Thanks for taking your time and reading this blog, I hope it lifts you up.
Love the blog Pat! And thanks for the picture.
Can’t wait to come to class tomorrow, and you’ll be pleased to know that i’ve been practising this week.
See you in the morning.
